Last week, Musica Tra Amici Artistic Director Eric Halen returned to his alma mater, University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg MO for a concert on the UCM Performing Arts Series. In addition to giving a recital, UCM students had the opportunity to attend a masterclass and Q&A session with Eric. Performing alongside Eric for the recital was pianist and UCM professor Mia Hynes, and his daughter Brittany Halen singing an encore.
Having been decades since Eric had returned to UCM, needless to say it was quite the reunion! It was also a special reunion for Eric’s wife Angi, as UCM is not only her alma mater, but the place that she and Eric met. The Halens loved reuniting with old friends and faculty, and revisiting the school. UCM is also where Eric Halen’s father, Dr. Walter Halen was a professor of Violin, Viola, Composition, and was director of the UCM orchestra.
