Musica Tra Amici’s Eric Halen and Scott Holshouser
The Musica Tra Amici (Music Among Friends) recital series continues Monday, April 27th, 7:30PM, at Gallery M Squared in the Heights. Artistic director Eric Halen, associate concertmaster of the Houston Symphony, and Scott Holshouser, Houston Symphony keyboardist, present a program of three works for violin and piano written within ten years of each other at the beginning of the 20th century. The program opens with the Violin Sonata by Leoš Janáček, followed by the original violin and piano version of Ralph Vaughan Williams’ well-known The Lark Ascending. To round out the recital, Halen and Holshouser will perform Ravel’s Violin Sonata No. 2. Both musicians join Houston Public Media’s St.John Flynn in the Geary Studio to talk about and play excerpts from the music they’re presenting.
