Houston Symphony Associate Concertmaster Eric Halen has begun a new chamber music series in Houston designed to recreate the intimate settings and musical experience of the times when the bulk of classical chamber music was written.
The inaugural Musica Tra Amici (Italian for “Music Between Friends”) recital takes place Monday, September 29th, 7PM, at Gallery M Squared in the Heights. Eric will be joined by three Houston Symphony colleagues: Kiju Joh, violin; Sheldon Person, viola; and Brinton Averil Smith, cello. They will play two string quartets, Beethoven’s Quartet in E flat major, Op. 74 “Harp,” and Brahms’ Quartet in C minor, Op. 51 No. 1.
